Fresh Start In 2012

Well, time for the first post of the New Year. Happy 2012 everybody! Hope the year has started off well for everyone. 2011 wrapped up pretty well here in Colorado. No big events either way. The last couple months of the year I was pretty occupied with holiday festivities and getting an inventory up/ready for my Etsy shop. Which also lead to my first 2 sales (the Link and the Kirby pouches)! Yay! As for the beginning of 2012, here are a few things on the list I’m hoping to conquer:

  • Go back to school and work towards my Associates Degree (most likely in Business)
  • Get some of my credit debt paid down
  • Do some traveling, whether it be near or far! There’s a few plans that are being schemed up already… ;-)
  • Get back to my knitting and get my stash of yarn under control! I still have yarn from when I lived in California. That’s just crazy! o.O
Those are the main personal goals for the year. I know I’ll come up with other things along the way that I’d like to accomplish. I figure I can decide if it’s a priority at that point, no need to commit it to the list now.

The school goal is already in motion as well. All the financial aid paperwork has been done, the books have been purchased, and classes start January 23rd! Woo!! I’m only taking 2 classes for this semester and online at that. After 6 years out of the education system I don’t want to jump straight in and overwhelm myself. I'm taking Introduction to business and Interpersonal Communication to start off. Also trying to study for the math placement test.

The knitting stash bust has already been started too. A friend of mine is having a little boy in May and I’ve begun some work on a blanket for her new little man. Here’s a pic of the progress on it so far. The bobbles are kind of a pain, but overall they come out pretty dang cute. Takes about 9 stitches to make one bobble!

Since setting a New Years resolution to travel is a somewhat lofty goal to obtain without a lot of funding, I'm planning to even do more adventures around my own backyard here in Colorado. The pictures above are a place Richard and I go in the mountains called Lair o' the Bear near Morrison, Colorado. I really like the landscape shot on the top, but it was a little blurry for my taste. We got to the mountains a little late that evening... But it still turned out okay. It was freezing!!

I will be the first to admit that I need to get back to my crafting; especially my nerdy gaming crafting. The cross stitch above has been sitting in the same state of completion (or lack of) for over a month. Some equally discouraging events arose when I finished my first ds bag/carrier with cross stitching and it was too small to fit a system and the games. :-( Boo!! So it was back to the drawing board to correct it… It’s still sitting in the same spot I put it that day. Instead I’ve chosen to entertain myself by trying to beat some video games. I’m making decent progress in that department. So far I’ve almost beat Super Mario 3d Land (just 4 more stages to go) and I’ve beat the 50cc races for Mario Kart 7 (3 star gold on all of them). I’ve almost beat all the races in 100cc as well, but not all of them are 3 stars yet.

I think with that I'm going to go and get back to my knitting! Salut mes amis sur Internet! ;-)
