Happy 2012 everybody! Hope the year has started off well for everyone. 2011 wrapped up pretty well here in Colorado. No big events either way. The last couple months of the year I was pretty occupied with holiday festivities and getting an inventory up/ready for my Etsy shop. Which also lead to my first 2 sales (the Link and the Kirby pouches)! Yay! As for the beginning of 2012, here are a few things on the list I’m hoping to conquer:

Go back to school and work towards my Associates Degree (most likely in Business)
Get some of my credit debt paid down
Do some traveling, whether it be near or far! There’s a few plans that are being schemed up already… ;-)
Get back to my knitting and get my stash of yarn under control! I still have yarn from when I lived in California. That’s just crazy! o.O
Those are the main personal goals for the year. I know I’ll come up with other things along the way that I’d like to accomplish. I figure I can decide if it’s a priority at that point, no need to commit it to the list now.

The school goal is already in motion as well. All the financial aid paperwork has been done, the books have been purchased, and classes start January 23rd! Woo!! I’m only taking 2 classes for this semester and online at that. After 6 years out of the education system I don’t want to jump straight in and overwhelm myself. I'm taking Introduction to business and Interpersonal Communication to start off. Also trying to study for the math placement test.

The knitting stash bust has already been started too. A friend of mine is having a little boy in May and I’ve begun some work on a blanket for her new little man. Here’s a pic of the progress on it so far. The bobbles are kind of a pain, but overall they come out pretty dang cute. Takes about 9 stitches to make one bobble!

Since setting a New Years resolution to travel is a somewhat lofty goal to obtain without a lot of funding, I'm planning to even do more adventures around my own backyard here in Colorado. The pictures above are a place Richard and I go in the mountains called Lair o' the Bear near Morrison, Colorado. I really like the landscape shot on the top, but it was a little blurry for my taste. We got to the mountains a little late that evening... But it still turned out okay. It was freezing!!

I will be the first to admit that I need to get back to my crafting; especially my nerdy gaming crafting. The cross stitch above has been sitting in the same state of completion (or lack of) for over a month. Some equally discouraging events arose when I finished my first ds bag/carrier with cross stitching and it was too small to fit a system and the games. :-( Boo!! So it was back to the drawing board to correct it… It’s still sitting in the same spot I put it that day. Instead I’ve chosen to entertain myself by trying to beat some video games. I’m making decent progress in that department. So far I’ve almost beat Super Mario 3d Land (just 4 more stages to go) and I’ve beat the 50cc races for Mario Kart 7 (3 star gold on all of them). I’ve almost beat all the races in 100cc as well, but not all of them are 3 stars yet.

I think with that I'm going to go and get back to my knitting! Salut mes amis sur Internet! ;-)

Etsy Shop Is Open & Updates

Well since it's been a while since I last wrote. That does seem to happen every few months around here. There was a good deal going on over here. First and kinda the most recent is the opening of my Etsy Shop: Knitendo! You can follow the link here or above in the link bar or even the link on the right in the "widget." I really am pleased with the way my first round of pouches came out. The sculpey clay zipper pulls were super fun to make. I had forgotten how much fun clay can be. That's on hold until I can get a clay oven though. Using a regular range for clay cooking is not recommended I've discovered, gets people sick. I've got a growing (quickly growing at that) list of ideas in the mean time... Can always get the stitching part done while I wait. I am open to do custom orders and also open to suggestions of what you'd like to see stitched. Let me know! :-)

We did again expand our little ferret family from 2 to 3 with the addition of recent rescue Bowser! He's a darker colored sable than Jack and is a little bit younger. He enjoys chasing your feet as you walk and wrestling with hands. Also a fan of having his chin an chest rubbed! ;-) Such hams they all can be.

As I mentioned in my last post, I've been doing rather larger cross stitch pieces. I decided while getting all these small stitchings done for the bags I'd throw a few in for myself. So here's the finished version of my "Baddies" set from Super Mario Bros 3 on the original Nintendo. The pattern is where most I use are from Sprite Stitch. They now hang in my basement bathroom next to the game room. The frames were little deals from Michael's. At about $2 - $3 a piece I think they worked out pretty well! I am still working on the map from World 1 of Super Mario Bros 3. I've almost got all the black detail of page 1 of 8 done... :-( Long way to go and fairly time consuming with everything else going on.

Saving the best for last, my mom came out to visit at the end of September! Above is a link to the Album from here visit. I'm still working on sizing and editing some of the pictures. We went to the Molly Brown House and the Denver Botanic Gardens. Then the next day we journeyed up to Estes Park to see the trees changing for the fall. The colors weren't quite as vivid and abundant in the park as I had hoped. However, the drive home through Grand Lake... Was amazing! The whole road was lined with beautiful golden Aspens. I think I'm going to make a new tradition of going to a new fall destination each year. Any suggestions from Colorado locals?

That's about it for now. Check back in with my shop from time to time to see what's new. I'll be working on getting a better variety of items up over the next few weeks. I'll be postings the announcements here in the "Update" box! Now time to go get ready for tonight's hockey game. Avalanche vs Calgary should be a fun one to go to, even with nose bleed seats! :-D

...last day of being 24

I always seem to drop the ball on posting things. It's not that I'm not doing things, quite the opposite in fact. I'm doing many things and then fall behind enough I lose the desire to catch up with posts. Such is life I suppose. So let's get caught up a bit!

Above is a link to my Mexico vacation album on Picassa. I don't want to through and repost all the pictures with reiterated captions, mainly because there's about 100 of them! :-) So enjoy them at your own leisure! The main shot I chose here is one I took para-sailing. You can see the Cabo Marina and both sides of the Baja peninsula! I love the water colors and the wake from the boats.

Here's some sweet shenanigans from Jack and Yoda. Jack (on the top) has taken a liking to splashing himself with the play time water. He needs a little mini pool! Yoda (the bottom) was having a good time the other day playing with his little rope toy. He kicks it around with both his front and back feet! He gets pretty into it.

I've been working on these rather large cross stitches from the game series Punch Out for quite sometime now. I've been getting a little burnt out on such big pieces, but I'm determined to finish them! So I figured while working on those I'd take some time here and there to do some instantly gratifying smaller pieces. This is a Goomba from Super Mario Bros 3 for the original Nintendo. The pattern is of course from Sprite Stitch. This was a very quick to stitch project and I look forward to doing several more from this enemies set!!

Punch Out - Little Mac ...Update & Vespa News

Thought I'd take a moment and share my progress on my latest Punch Out cross stitch, Little Mac and Doc Lewis. I don't feel like I have as much to do at this point so I guess that's a plus. :-D

I'm wanting to get started on another stitching soon, but I almost want to take a "1 project break" from the Punch Out series. Over at the Sprite Stitch Forums I found some patterns for Mario 3 world maps that I'd love to try. The 8-bit pixel looks and works so well for cross stitching. There's also a few smaller projects I have that might be more satisfying. Decisions, decisions.

In other news, I've been riding my Vespa PX150 scoot a lot more lately. I'm determined to build my confidence more on that little beast. So far it's been pretty enjoyable. I finally got myself a proper riding jacket. That's been nice for the morning ride to work. It's black with a pink stripe down the left and a band on the right upper arm. I'll post a pic of it soon. Our days are pretty warm now so I look forward to a summer of impromptu mini-adventures around town!! Planning on lots of pictures. We have reached an important milestone as well... It's been 5 years with scoot and 600 miles!! Here's a couple pics to commemorate this occasion

The on on the Left is pretty self explanatory. The one on the Right is just on a little ride to a school near my house I took today. I kinda thought if boys get to take pictures of their cars all mis-parked then why can't my scooter? Too bad the background wasn't something more epic and such. Maybe next time..!

The Great Basement Finish & a Lil' Sadie

It's been a little while since I posted. Most of my spare lately has been occupied by either resting or painting. My honey and I just got the basement finished at our place. It's taken the entire 2 years we've lived here to accomplish, but it's finally mostly done..! We just need to finish up the painting. But that means knowing what color I want everything to be painted... :-) Still working on that. So far we have the entertainment room and the bathroom done. Both are slightly different shades of blue. Below and left is the entertainment room, before the addition of the entertainment accessories. Below and to the right is the bathroom.

In other news, being spring time here in Colorado... It's been ridiculously windy. Also, this is one of the first years I can say we've had a rainy spring (3 consecutive days is the streak). Sadie is loving that the snow and rain have finally stopped; she's getting more dog park time. We usually take her there and walk a couple laps around while she socializes. Once we get to the doggie training area though she gets pretty focused on getting some praise... We usually inspire a few other people to come over and get their dogs to show off a bit too.

Beyond that I've just been trying to get in a bit of scoot riding time. She and I've been commute buddies for work. So far it's gone pretty smoothly. It's a nice change of pace for the drive home. Funny how a different vehicle can change your outlook on the ride to one place or another. The mornings are still a little chilly, but that should be ending soon as summer sets in. Hopefully soon I'll have a few more scoot adventures to post about and some more crafty projects to add into the mix! I do need some new washcloths... ;-)

I Almost Forgot!

The other day when I got home for work there was a package waiting for me in my front flower bed. I had a good chat with my mom this morning and it started raining after that. Now it's snowing and looking outside you'd never believe it hadn't been snowing earlier. We get such crazy weather here in the Rocky Mountains! Good thing I didn't have any plans to go out today!! Though I did have a date with my Wii to play some Super Mario Galaxy (the first one) and I have put that off for most of the day to do various other things...

I started working on Little Mac and Doc Louis from the NES Punch Out series late last year. I stopped cross stitching for a bit (too many other things going on) and picked it up again a little over a month ago. The picture above is the first progress picture I took of it towards the end of last year.

So let's fast forward to today. I've been working on it on and off for the last month or so, mainly during my lunch break at work. I wanted to get the background knocked out (no pun intended) early, because it's so frustrating and tedious at the end. I think it's really moving along.

Once our basement is finished we're going to turn part of it into a game room. I can't wait to get some of my nerdy cross stitching framed and hung up either down there or perhaps on the stairs leading down to it... So many choices! It'll be nice to finally have our basement turned into a more practical living space.

...after a year long hiatus!

My oh my, how time does fly. They can be quite the handful, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!

<img src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/_AEoF2EeXaZQ/TRlQxvB162I/AAAAAAAABaE/zt7_Edlej7M/s800/House%20Lights.jpg" height="240" width="180" alt=”Xmas Lights!” /> <img src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/_AEoF2EeXaZQ/TRlQy2iN1_I/AAAAAAAABaQ/l2mDRIa6aqc/s800/Tree%20%26%20Presents.jpg" height="240" width="180" alt=”Xmas Tree & Fire Place” />
Christmas has also come and gone. We decorated the outside of the house this year. The lights were such a nice treat to come home to, but the electric bill was brutal. We really spoiled the pets this year too! Sadie needed a new bed and some squeaky toys (her favorites are the Martha Stewart ones I got on clearance). The boys Jack and Yoda got a tube play-set and some star toys with bells and crinkle paper in them.

Let's see... More recent events that I'm still uploading pictures for include, but aren't limited to the following:

A trip to the Denver Zoo with our friends Aaron, Yvonne and their son Noah.

Getting our basement work started! In a little over a month we'll have a game room and ferret play space.

I got a new car! 2005 Volkswagon GTI

My sister joined the Peace Corps! You can follow her journey over at Another Sense of Place

Our friends Sarah and Nathan got married in Boulder, Co.

I think that is pretty much the gist of whats happened this year. I'm sure there's more, but those are the highlights that I have for now. I'm working on another Punchout cross-stitch, Little Mac and Doc Louis this time. I'll post some progress of it soon!

...and again sorry for the neglect but sometimes life calls. ;-)

Another Snowy Day.

Good ol'Colorado! Never fails to spread some snow on my days off. I'm not letting it bother me today though. I can catch up on some blogging and recover from the "Scary Kids Scaring Kids" Farewell Concert last night. My ears still have a vague static ringing noise in them. Serves me right for standing so close to the speaker...
It's been a little bit since I last posted so I suppose I should "catch-up" today.

We went and saw the Avalanche play the Thrashers towards the beginning of the month. It was a really great game. Avs were losing, then tied it up and won in over time. Hockey is one of the few sports that I really kinda like seeing in person. Go figure!

Valentine's Day has also come and gone. Richard bought me some beautiful roses and a card. I baked us a very tasty spice cake with the help of my new mixer. ;-) We kept it pretty simple. Especially since there's a few shows coming up that we might be treating each other too.
Well I should go get some craftiness out of my system while Richard's working. Or should I get a little bit of gaming done..? Descisions.

Slow Cooker Courses! - Mom's Beef Stew

So I was thinking about my slow cooker about two months ago. Realizing that I've had it for almost two years and made one round of stew in it. So I decided to resovle to make a meal a month involving it! ;-)

While I did make the same meal as last time (Mom's Beef Stew) I actually took the time to peel the potatos and that made a huge difference! It was so perfect. Not going to lie, I almost finished all the leftovers. The receipe book is called "Not Your Mother's Slow Cooker Book." It's got a wide range of dishes in it. Some of them are pretty involved in preparing. The stew is one of those receipes, but it's worth it in the end. The slow cooker makes it so easy to cook as well. Just prepare, throw in, turn on, and leave alone!

Time to pick my next meal..!

All Work & No Play

There's just not enough hours in the day!
Sorry for my lack of updates. I've been planning all week on make some blueberry muffins to try out my new amazing mixer. The came out really great, a heck of a lot bigger then I thought and very delicious. More chai too! What can I say? I'm addicted! ;-)

I also got to set-up and try out the record player my sista sent me for Christmas. It's pretty sweet! I don't have a home for it yet, so it gets to be my centerpiece on the dinning room table. There was a record bundle with it by a band called Dr. Dog. They're kinda a folkish Beatles, a good group. I'm super excited to locate a few vinyls now. :-D

Getting ready to go see Zombieland at the dollar theater later tonight. If you haven't seen it yet you really should. It's a damn good film! Will be buying that one for sure!

I was also realizing I haven't posted any projects in a few here. I've still been hard at work on the Teddy Bear Hoodie Set for Brilyn (it needs assembly now). I've got a pretty big cross stitch I planned on starting soon here. I'll post it when I start. Also, on a fantastic note for my blog, the amazing folks over at Sprite Stitch posted my Hip Hop Frog Suit Mario project! I'm kinda internet famous! It's just exciting to see my projects out there.

Happy New Year Everyone!

Just thought I'd take a minute and wish everyone a "Happy 2010!" I hope everybody got to spend it as relaxed as me... ;-)

I had the last few days off so I spent them bringing in the new year lazily. Richard's little brother had a show at Iliff Park Saloon up the road from us. So we went by and showed our support on New Years Eve. The next day Sadie was wanting sometime outside in the "sun" and cold. So we stood on the porch for a few and I enjoyed some chai. She coveted it for the most part and stared at some birds on the reservoir.

Not much going on here. Ready for spring and taxes to get started on home repairs and projects. I've been reading up on finishing basements, building closets, and installing cabinets. Doesn't it all sound so exciting!? :-D

I'm really just holding back the excitment.

Brilynn's Little Bear Hoodie!

I've been trying to get some knitting done lately, but it's been hard to find the energy and the time! :-( My main focus has been my friend Chelsea's way over-due baby shower gift. The image on the left is a more acurate representation of the color. I would've finished this one faster than I did the Mario one, but there were a lot of things going on in this last week. We bought a dinning room table at a ridiculously great price... Then came the assembly... :-\ Nothing too outrageous happened just a few banged up knuckles from the wrenches. All in all though it came out really nice. Our little home is getting more "homey" by the day. I was thinking I'd try to find a good placemat pattern soon... Or give in and finally just start making my own patterns.

We shall see where my needles take me over the next few weeks...
Take Care!

Red Mario WashCloth - Fini!

<img height="200" width="300" border="0" alt="It-sa Me, Mario! I still need to weave in the ends, but I was pretty excited so I wanted to get a picture of it up. My little terror of a puppy (Sadie) was being very behaved today. After a trip to the dog park she just napped under-foot while I knit. Now that's love! So tomorrow I start my Princess Peach pink washcloth to go with this one. I'm making a little "his and hers" set from these. The pattern is pretty simple just takes a bit of counting as you go to make sure things will line up right. I'm debating making a few patterns like this of my own...

Maybe a power-up washcloth set! :-D

New Puppy

Well we got a puppy. She has torn a few things apart (mostly my shoes and a few rolls of toilet paper) to say the least... She makes up for it with her charm when we are home I suppose. Sadie has taken a liking to her rope toy and carries it with her around the townhouse. She's very well behaved, doesn't bark when neighbors dogs do and loves to eat snow when it's not falling from the sky. Coincidently today was our first snow. According to the vet she's about nine months to a year old and a Collie, Shepherd, Lab mix. She's the newest member to our little family.

"It-sa Me, Mario!" Fighting bravely against a cold and occupying my hands with a quick Mario WashCloth pattern from Periwinkle Dragon. I plan on doing the other ones she has posted over there! I've never knit something from a chart so this has been pretty interesting. I got a little confused when I'd stop and pick it back up, so I just kept going with it! ;-) It's been a while since I used my Susan Bates metal/steel needles as well and I realized how slick and heavy they can be. I'm trying to hold out until my local knitting shop gets the needles I want to try in. I dowloaded a pretty sweet counter program for my iPhone. It's a handy little tool, if only I could figure out how to have multiple project counters... I may have to spring the $4.99 for a thorough program. Blast!!

Emo IceCream & Bowser Dreams'

Well I’ve been on and off completely sucked into playing Mario & Luigi: Bowsers Inside Story. Not really a huge deal in terms of birthday importance. My work had a bagel breakfast for me yesterday, they also told all my customers about my birthday. Then my boyfriend's family took me to my fave Thai restaraunt and ice cream. I was very well fed... His younger brother also kept asking me if I felt a year older or not. I made out like a bandit with presents too! :-D

There was also a a couple shirts, a pair of great heels, and cards that I couldn't get arranged in the picture. The Mario bag was my present to myself... It's my new knitting bag. I've been getting tired of messanger bag flaps! Both my mom and sister also called and sang me happy birthday! Nerdy family traditions rock! Kept today a fairly lazy day and just roamed 16th Street Mall. Overall it was a pretty good birthday!

I think my new game is calling to me...

Past Projects Feature: Minty Blanket

As part of my "nostalgia past project piece" and continuing with the baby blanket topic... I ran slightly short on my gray wool and still need to pick it up again. :-(

Punch Out - Piston Honda ...Near-Done Progress

Well, I know it's been a while since I've posted anything... Just had a lot on my plate the last month or so. However my Piston Honda cross Stitch has had a lot of progress since last time. Still need to do all the white stitching, but that's about it. I think I may make this part of a pot holder set. Then I could make the more "Roughed Up" Piston Honda as a second one. Decisions, decisions. ;-)
On a nerdy life note, my boyfriend and I just got back from our mini-vacation down to Colorado Springs. It was nice. We stayed in an a-frame cabin that about the size of our living room! Scoped the Springs game shop "scene," saw some wildlife (do deer really count?), found a laid back hookah bar having a movie night! We enjoyed ourselves.

Now to plan a little for when my mom comes to visit...

Punch Out - Piston Honda ...Continuing Progress

Thought I'd throw up a new post of my last two days of work I believe. I'm excited for my progress. But what I'm even more excited about is that I've got my next project picked out. And yes, yes, indeed I did finally make my very own first pattern. I couldn't contain my joy about it. But I'm not going to give away what series or character it is. There must be a little bit of anticipation built before it's revealed... There's also some possible crochet projects to look forward to on the horizons. ;-)

Punch Out - Piston Honda Progress

Figured I would start posting some of my work in progress pictures I've taken. I always love watching a project come together! I've been working on Piston Honda here from Punch Out for probably about two weeks in between customers at work. It has definently made for some pretty interesting conversation. I plan to cross stitch all the characters from Punch Out and frame them as three sets, one set for each circuit. Of course I found the pattern on Sprite Stitch. Hopefully soon here I will be able to start making my own patterns and such more. I guess we'll see how ambitious I get in the end... Right?

Super Mario Bros 3 - Frog Suit

Alright. So I decided to get a little creative here with my second cross stitch. I used two pieces of a pattern sequence from Sprite Stitch yet again. Believe me if you are into gaming crafts that website is just fantastic. Then I added my own little "hip hop" twist to them. So far all of my boyfriend's freinds have noticed them right away. Always a nice compliment. I'm trying to think of some other clever little framed sets to do... Any ideas?

Bubble Bobble

<img height="221" width="254" border="0 alt="Bubble Bobble Cross Stitch" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_AEoF2EeXaZQ/S9EV5cEQigI/AAAAAAAAAd8/uLyAkjP01ws/s800/bubblebobble%28xst%29.jpg" />

Here's my first atempt at cross stitching. It's a small assortment of the characters from the NES classic Bubble Bobble. Probably one of my favorite Nintendo games of all time. So it only seemed right that my first game stitching be of it! I found the pattern on Sprite Stitch, all I changed was adding a couple more rows to the outside edges. Though next time I do want to plan around my frame size and space the characters/sprites a little more evenly with the negative space. Took approximatly two months on and off of working on it in between other projects.
